  1. INSTALLATION AND IMAGE DISPLAY:  
  2.  
  3. EPIPHANIES OF THE GODDESS v1.5 for WIN 95 and WIN 3.1+
  4.  
  5. 1) INSTALLATION
  6.  
  7.    a) Make certain you are in Windows. The installation program
  8.    will not run in DOS. Be certain that you are in the proper OS,
  9.    either Windows 3.1+ or Windows 95, if you run a double boot
  10.    system.
  11.    
  12.    Windows 3.1+
  13.  
  14.    b) Put Disk 1 (or the shareware disk) into your floppy drive.
  15.    In Windows 3.1+ from Program Manager's File Menu choose the 
  16.    Run option. Type a:\setup.exe or b:\setup.exe, depending upon 
  17.    whether a or b is the letter assigned to your 3.5" diskette 
  18.    drive. Click on OK.
  19.  
  20.    c) Alternatively, open the directory and file display for
  21.    your floppy drive, or working directory wherein you unzipped 
  22.    the shareware archive, and double click on setup.exe.  
  23.    
  24.    Windows 95
  25.    
  26.    d) From the Start Menu choose Settings ... Control Panel ...
  27.    Add/Remove Software. The installation wizard will find 
  28.    setup.exe on your floppy disk. Alternatively you can use Explorer 
  29.    to access the floppy disk, or directory where you unzipped the 
  30.    shareware archive, and double click on setup.exe.
  31.    
  32. 2) Either accept the default path and directory for installation or 
  33.    edit to your own specifications. Choose whether or not to install 
  34.    EPIPHANIES OF THE GODDESS as the default screen saver in the 
  35.    Desktop Item of the Control Panel. 
  36.  
  37.    Notice that the word 'default' in the dialog is confusing. 
  38.    If you choose this option, EPIPHANIES OF THE GODDESS will be       
  39.    installed as just one of your screen saver choices under the name    
  40.    MINICAT in the proper alphabetical position. However, it will become    
  41.    the active screen saver immediately. If you do not enable this     
  42.    installation option, EPIPHANIES OF THE GODDESS will still be    
  43.    installed as a screen saver option but will not be active until    
  44.    deliberately enabled by you. See 'Your  Windows Screen Saver" in the    
  45.    album for information about EPIPHANIES OF THE GODDESS as a screen    
  46.    saver and how to configure it. 
  47.  
  48. 3) The installation will create a program group called MINICAT
  49.    with a single item in it also called MINICAT. You may change
  50.    the name of this icon to EPIPHANIES OF THE GODDESS if you wish but    
  51.    there are reasons not to do so as explained in the manual.
  52.  
  53. 4) Double Click upon the MINICAT icon and the opening screen of
  54.    MINICAT is displayed. Notice the long horizontal button in the 
  55.    right window which is labeled EPIPHANIES OF THE GODDESS. Click on    
  56.    this bar and you will be presented with the EPIPHANIES OF THE GODDESS     
  57.    album main screen.

  59.    If you pause at this opening screen for several seconds, 
  60.    a slide show of all images in the album will begin in the left
  61.    hand window. Notice that you can exit the program from this 
  62.    opening screen using the Exit Button. See the manual within
  63.    the Media Album for additional instructions.

  65. 5) IMAGE QUALITY: SUPER IMPORTANT!! DON'T SKIP THIS!!
  66.  
  67.    a) To view these images with all the brilliance and resolution they 
  68.    contain, set your monitor for 24 bit (16 million colors) if at all
  69.    possible. They look OK at a monitor setting of 256 colors but not 
  70.    superb. If you enable these images as a screen saver, they will look 
  71.    best at 640 x480 because the images then occupy most of the screen 
  72.    area.

  74.    b) Unless you have an old pre-1990 monitor, you already have 
  75.    installed software to change the resolution of monitor. Such 
  76.    software comes with all graphics cards and is preinstalled 
  77.    when you buy a computer in the retail market. I cannot give 
  78.    specifics here for the dozens of different graphics cards on 
  79.    the market. If you haven't discovered this monitor utility, which 
  80.    will be a Windows applet, consult the manual that came with 
  81.    your graphics card. If you lost it, call the store where you 
  82.    bought the computer or the manufacturer of the computer.
  83.  
  84. 6) Our E-text catalog (ASCII) does not install: it remains on your disk 
  85. or in the directory within which you unzipped the shareware. This file 
  86. is too large to be handled by Notepad in Windows 3.1+ or Texto'LE in 
  87. Windows 95. In Windows 3.1+, open it in your word processor or a text 
  88. editor. In Windows 95, open it in a word processor or Word Pad.
